I am a high school biology teacher who would like to have extra motivation to read science-related books and discuss them outside of school. These wouldn't be textbooks, they would be more "popular science" that are educational and entertaining as well! Authors will include Richard Dawkins, Natalie Angier, E.O. Wilson, Carl Sagan, and Rachel Carson among others. There are many of these that have been on my "to-do" list for a long time. Of course other science teachers would be great for this gro …
Trying to create an informal forum for fish & wildlife biologists in the DC area to gather monthly to meet with like minded people. Amidst the concrete jungle it would be nice to talk wildlife and find out what others in the field are doing. Hopefully this will lead to increased interaction, networking and knowledge of fish & wildlife seminars/events taking place in the DC area. Emphasis is definitely on socializing not beer drinking so non drinkers are more than welcome.

No, nothing against healthy and peaceful aging here. Hope to have one someday too….But not just yet! Far from that: I want to keep and enjoy my good health, youthful looks and curiosity about life and I believe they are all connected. The way I see it, “anti-aging life style” is not only finding new ways of smoothing wrinkles and getting rid of cellulite (though I have to agree – those are very important steps), but it is more about the state of mind. I am not willing to let my dream of retireme …

We, the founders, crossed paths at a happy hour for the Washington Association of Professional Anthropologists (WAPA), which only several "early career" students and practitioners had attended. We found a real common ground in that we are facing similar career-shaping decisions in an environment that seems quite different from what our professors and senior mentors faced. And so, we've started this group for both practical and social purposes . . . Practical, in that we would love to meet other …
